By submitting a biography you grant familydenmark.dk the right to modify, use and copy the text royalty-free. Only people born in the 1800s or deceased emigrants born in the 1900s can be included in respect to privacy.
Here are som guidelines for submitting a biography of an emigrant.
* Name (spelling used in Denmark or in the new country):
Named Jørgen Johansen in Denmark and George Johnson in the USA.
* Date and place of birth (mandatory - need help?)
Born 12 Dec 1858 in Kerteminde, Odense County
* Name and trade of parents
Son of blacksmith Peter Johansen and wife Anna (maiden name: Jensdatter)
* Year of emigration
Emigrated in 1884 to the USA
He lived a couple of years in New York before moving to Rapid City, South Dakota
He worked all his life as a carpenter
* Death (if possible list date and place of death)
Died 1 Jan 1929 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
If possible also include information about spouse(s) and children:
* Spouse (marriage, name, ethnicity, born, died)
In 1888 he in South Dakota married Anne Knudsen, born 1865 in South Dakota to norwegian immigrants. She died 1934.
* Children (name, birthyear, occupation)
They had 5 children. The son John Johnson (born 1894) also became a carpenter in Rapid City. Other children: Peter (1889), Matthew (1891), Anne (1895) and Maria (1898).
If the spouse also emigrated from Denmark then feel free to add him or her also with the list of information mentioned above.
