Jens Jensen (1860-1951)
Landscape architect in Chicago, Illinois, USA
He was born 13 Sep 1860 in Dybbøl, Sønderborg. Son of farmer Christen Jensen (1825-99) and wife Magdalene Sophie Petersen (1829-95). In 1884 he emigrated to the USA. After working in Florida and Iowa he went to Chicago where he worked his way up through the park system. He designed several parks in Chicago and Illinois. He became one of the most famous landscape architects in the USA. From 1920 he worked as-self employed. After the death of his wife Anne Marie Hansen (1861-1934) he 1935 moved to Ellison Bay, Wisconsin, where he died 1 Oct 1851.
